I'm Stef! I'm a 3D Artist and all round good egg :) This is my blog - originally from when I was at uni doing my Masters in Games Design and now for my general ramblings and thoughts.
My portfolio can be found at www.stefbow.com - it's all kinds of tasty!
Or, rather they use wood to make their nests. True fact. Only discovered after watching a wasp munch away on the fence in my garden. Makes a fantastic noise. Anyway! Pictures:
The bottom pic is DS-screen size. Aim being for this little project to make the room low-poly so it could be displayed/rendered on a DS. Currently, as is in the pics above, there are 373 Tris and 3 x 128x128 Textures
A couple of quick images of what I'm working on at the moment - I'm modelling a 50s style lounge with various furnishings. I'm trying to keep the poly count LOW (capitalised for emphasis). I'm not liking my texturing (especially the phone). I'm probably going to redo it.
... barely. I did, after all spend a good bit of time on Sunday dressed as a skeleton and fighting my own friends/faction... as you do on a Sunday afternoon!
Anyhow... my degree show stuff is up:
AND... my Tank has been printed (I've yet to see it in person, but Tim kindly sent me this pic):
It's not that I'm not doing any work to share, it's that I'm preparing for my hand-in and degree show, so rather than just post everything on here (and ruin Josh's surprises when I hand it in! ;) ) I'm just quietly working away.
I think that's mainly because I've spent so much time faffing with lights that the differences between the renders are often hardly noticable. I have forced some self discipline upon myself now. I've left the lights alone and finished setting some bits and pieces up. So, currently, these are my most finished renders of 4 different scenes
I'm thinking the eye-light the botton pic is far too bright... which is odd, because it wasn't and I don't recall adding any extra lights in that would have affected it's brightness....??
Chocolate cookie for knowing what film that quote is from!
I learnt new things on Friday - how to make things glow. That Josh knows his stuff :) So, armed with new found skills and a determination that the seabed file was NOT going to defeat me I produced the following:
I think it needs more murk - it is supposed to be the bottom of the ocean, or maybe that wouldn't actually work so well as it's quite dark anyway? I'm also almost thinking it doesn't been the Ocean-caustic? OR at least, that it needs some adjustment.
I remember way-back-when playing on the Incredible Crash Test Dummies game on the SNES. I loved it. There was something ridiculously appealing about loosing limbs one by one when you take damage - first hopping, then shuffling along on your bum once you lost your legs.
So, first up.... The Incredible Crash Test Dummies:
Second, my own crash test dummy/submarine. I've deformed it with Maya's Defoming tools and then chipped away at the model. I've also put it on the seabed and put the Underwater Caustics effect on.... looking good so far I think? But, clearly, I'm biased!
